Slow pitch jigging confirmed in Thailand
We have a report from Kitidas in Thailand.
I’m so happy to hear that he finally launched his first slow pitch game. Because I know he is the very first reader of my site when I was just starting.

Hi Totos,
The wait is over for my first slow pitch jigging trial. Too long I must say that had to wait for two years for the first try. The trip was not planned solely for slow pitch jigging since most of other anglers were not familiar with it. So this trip was a mix of fresh bait fishing and jigging.
The area that we went to is the continental shelf next to Similan Islands. While other anglers did their deep drop fishing, I took my slow pitch rig out and went the first trial. I did not expect to hook something up on the first drop but only on the second long up stroke I felt the bite, not that grab and go type, It’s the nip&bite that you feel when you fish fresh cut bait. I set hook and got tight lines. The fish was hooked on the rear hook. I do not know the common English name of this fish but It is very good to eat.
The second fish came not long after the first one, I felt very subtle bite and set the hook. There was no fighting from the other end, just some drag. It’s an Alfonsino fish, just a little larger than the lure, again got hooked on rear the hook. It’s just amazing too see a fish this small took the metal jig almost as large as itself.
The final fish was the same type as the first one but a little larger. Actually I hooked up four times but lost one fish while reeling in. The boat captain even said he’d never seen anyone caught these fishes on jigs before so he’s very impressed with Slow Pitch method. Before the trip I was not so confident that Slow Pitch was gonna work, but now no more doubts. It’s just the way to go.
Cheers,
Kitidas

Great job in the middle of live baits hanging around!
When you start hooking those tiny fish of the size of the jig, you are a slow pitch jigger!!! Your patience and study have been paid off.

Thank you Totos for post up my trip report. It is because of the knowledge you have been sharing on this place has allowed us to enjoy and explore the new game of jigging. I’d gotten Satosan DVDs for some time but never understood what was he’s telling until I found your site. Keep it up my friend.
Cheers,
Kitidas P.
ps. The yellow fish name is Tang’s Snapper.
The fish sure looks delicious. If you have the photo, send me what it became of before it went into your mouth!
