hi my friend i would like to ask a question
i have a kayak and its difficult to be at vertical most of the time and bcoz of wind and current so i would like if you can find a solution for me .thank you.
Hi.
Sea-anchor is the least you can do with a kayak.
其他的啊ption is to sell your kayak and get a paddle kayak which enables you to stay vertical.
thank you mr totos .i really appreciated it
Hi,
I saw a non-popular brand “VALTOM” spinning and bait casting reels in one Japanese company. Are these reels made in Japan?
Thank you.
Nicholas
Hi NIcholas.
Valtom系列是由一家日本公司called PROX. I don’t think the reels are made in Japan. They are just too cheap to be. But it’s got a reputation in the Japanese market as cheap, efficient and expandable tackles.
hello,i will like to know if you make shipments to spain

Hi Toto,
I need your help to choice one evergreen rod.
I have see the evergreen poseidon slow jerker, and want ask if about your opinion I can use them for a inchiku kayak fishing.
Tell me.. For a inchiku weight min 80 gr max 130 gr, the model 603-3 can be a indicate and right choice?
Hi Giova.
Yes, some people put a inchiku on Slow Jerker sometimes when they want to try something different. Inchiku swims well even in a simple straight pull up. Inchiku game does not rely much on the rod anyway. Only concern is that Slow Jerker is so highly resilient that it may flick off some bites. The inchiku rod is usually fast tapered with a soft tip.
Your weight balance sounds about right.
Hi Totos
I need your help to choice one evergreen poseidon rod. I have see the evergreen poseidon slow jerker, high pitch jerker, and long fall jerker and i want ask if about your opinion I can use them for fishing to Cod, Salmon, Sea Trout in salt water, and in fresh water pike and zander in Sweden and Norway. Which is best choice between Evergreen poseidon long fall jerker, slow jerker, high pitch jerker?
Hi Kristian.
Thank you very much for your inquiry.
Sounds like some exciting games you have up in the North. Sounds so delicious too!
If you want to learn this game and be good at it, you should start with Slow Jerker. The question is which model?
Send me a message with this form. And tell me what depth is your main field. Give me the possible range of depth you usually fish. And give me a 30m range of depth you want to focus on as your main field.
Do you have a sea-anchor or any other boat operation to stay vertical?
Thank you.
Hi Totos
Thank you very much for reply. That is good Slow Jerker ? Yes i have boat i want vertical baitcasting rod. Slow Jerker 603-4 or 603-6? I think 603-3 is medium heavy and 603-6 is Heavy rods, that right? Yes the question is which model? Yes i fishing in the sea depth 30-40 m and maybe sometimes 60m (not always). I fishing most in salt wather in the sea. And i fishing sometimes in fresh water pike and zander 5-15 max. depth. I don’t know exactly what means slow pitch jerker, high pitch jerker, and long fall jerker? Can you explain litlle please? Sorry for my bad English. Thank you very much Totos
Hi Kristian.
Thank you for your inquiry.
There’s some information about slow pitch, high pitch and long fall on this page.
//m.bitbjax.com/v2020/slowpitch_variations/
I ask you an important question. Do you have a sea-anchor?
What I mean by staying vertical is you being vertical with the jig.
please see this post as well.
//m.bitbjax.com/v2020/?p=1019
For 30m to 40m depth, 603-3 or 603-4 will be recommended. The choice between these 2 models depends on how a sea-anchor helps your boat to stay vertical.
Hi Totos
I don’t have sea-anchor but I can buy one. Sometimes i fishing on big boat with many anglers.
Which reel fits well with slow pitch 603-3 or 603-4 ? This is good Abu garcia revo elite 8? Or i need bigger?
Hi Kristian.
Yes, sea-anchor is not so expensive. With free-drifting on a big boat, it’s hard to stay vertical.
In the circumstances where you can’t stay vertical, you are under a lot of current influence. Maybe you should get a 603-4 and use heavier jigs like 180g to 260g even when you fish in the shallow.
I’m sure Abu is a nice reel. But these reels are good for constant slow retrieving with light jigs and lures. It’s hard to make slow pitch reel actions with these reels. There are reasons why we prefer Ocea Jigger and this type of reels.
But it is not impossible. Maybe you can get used to it. If it’s the only way for you, it may be worth to try.
Hello!

Hi there, I’m still new in this slow pitch jigging techniques and even i dont have any experience with this type of techniques. Recently i had buy VFox Jigging Spirit JPC-602UL PE0.8-2.5 JW:60-150g Made in Japan rod and i thing i would like to pair it with reel Okuma Andros.
By the way, my question is, is that rod suitable for slow pitch jigging? is it a good pair of rod and reel?
Hi Madzihi.
This rod is not Japanese. Taiwanese maybe. By looking at the picture, it’s far from slow pitch jigging rod.
But slow pitch jigging is about maximizing the jigging tactics. You can still enjoy jigging with non-maximum tackle.
Good luck.
Hello Totos!!
I am Euripides,
I am a fan of you!!
I like the way you fishing and the way you explain the ”secrets” of slow pitch!
I would like to make some questions to you.
The first one, could you tell me the difference of technique between slow pitch jigging and light jigging? There are different rods as I know.
I am starting now the slow pitch jigging. I want to have 2 rods. One rod for deeper water and one for swallow water (20-50 meters).
I like the Maxel Risky Player rod due to force of drags.
There are 4 rod of Risky Player.
If I take the first one which it casting weight is 60-150 grammars for jigs (max drag 7 kilos in 60 degrees and 4 kilos in 90 degrees, can i use it as light jigging or not? There is one more rod as Transformer Light Jigging Rods (you will find the specificationhttp://www.maxelfishing.com/products?cat=Rods&subCat1=Jigging-Rods&subCat2=Transformer-Rods&sku=TLJR) What is your opinion? What is your suggestion?
The second is stronger, 120-280 grammars. Max drag 13 kilos in 60 degrees and 7 kilos in 90 degrees.
I am confused as you can see. Please help me!
I am waiting for your reply!
Many thanks in advance!
Euripides
Hi Euripides.
Thank you very much for your encouragement.
Staying vertical is the key factor for successful slow pitch jigging. That is harder to maintain when you are free-drifting than when you are on a Japanese boat with a captain controlling the drift with the spanker sail. So you need compromise a lot in the effort to stay as much vertical as possible. Using light line is one thing. For example, you don’t want to put on 7kg drag on #1.5 PE line. So I really wouldn’t worry about the drag spec on the rod.
I don’t know these rods.
Light jigging doesn’t really mean anything. Jigging with light tackle. When the rod maker says it’s a light jigging rod, it just
means that it’s a light rod for jigging, not a hard rod like a bloom stick for heavy jigging.
The characteristics of slow pitch jigging rod is described here.

Good luck.

Hi Totos,
I want to get into Slow Pitch jigging and I found your very informative site. Your site is very very good. I currently use mechanical jigging on 30lb yellowtail here in San Diego. I would like to try something different on these fish. I decided to purchased a Shimano Ocea jigger B565. I am planning to be using this rod for both mechanical and slow pitch jigging. I would like to purchase a dedicated slow pitch rod in the future if slow jigging works well here. I just wanted to know is it possible to effectively slow pitch jig with a Shimano Ocea jigger B565?
Thanks,
David
Hi Totos, sorry to bud in using unconventional method like this, but your contact form is currently not working at the email spot; keeps getting error message. Please fix it for future communications. Thank you Totos. Thank you David.
Thank you David. I fixed something and it works fine on my side. I hope it does on yours.
Hi David.
Shimano Ocea jigger B565 is not really a slow pitch rod in a very authentic definition. It’s more like a high pitch rod, meaning that the spring back action is smaller, quicker, and more powerful. It’s a good rod for light jigging with mechanical reel, though. You can’t really learn slow pitch jigging with a mechanical reel anyway. I think you should separate that.
Hi Totos
I want to go with Posedion Rods for Slow Jigging , I used to fish in that conditions , most of year in shallow water depth around 10-20 meter some times with high current , target fish Kingfish ,Queens, Grouper and some small mouth fish , 2 months I am fishing on depth between 25-50 meter or 25-100 meter with some times high water current , my budget to buy 1 rod what is your advice and how can I order with you? , I already have Japan address to ship to while I am living in Qatar

Hi Totos, I wrote you a message via “Contact” before registering or being signed in. Was wondering if you got it or I need to resend. I also have a couple of other questions I would like to ask regarding shipment and fees.
Thanks,
Christian
I’m glad we have email contact now.
Hi Totos!
First greetings for this page and all the knowledge about slow jigging that teaches us.
I bought a PSJ 603-3 but in the transport was damaged the tip guide.
I can’t repair it because I haven’t the reference,name,size,length,etc… from guides.
I want to know about the guides of this model of rod.If you know it…can you send me a link where I can buy the guides?or explain me the specifications of the guides or the tip guide at least?
Thank you for all and sorry but my english is very poor.
Greetings from Spain
Hi Totos,
I am having a holiday in Japan right now, and by following your suggestion, I bought my self a slow pitch jig as a present for myself.
Now I’m getting into a situation where the rod is 1 pc and it’s a complete challenge to bring a round and this morning I have been trying to find a way to ship it over to NZ. Japan post, Ta-Q-Bin, and kagawa all said that they couldn’t help me and even fedex were saying something about the maximum length is only like 1.8M max.
So I’m in the brink of giving up and planning to refund the rod tomorrow. But i thought i want to get some hint from you if you ever managed to send a fishing rod by mail?
Regards,
Reeve
